Organised uniformed groups gather round the memorial on Stone Recreation GroundHundreds of local residents, uniformed groups, representatives from parish, borough and county councils, police and local businesses attended the very moving service at Stone Recreation Ground.

Reverend Kenneth Clark and Carol Avery from Stone St Mary’s Church conducted the service, and the choir from St Mary’s sang rousing hymns.

This year’s Parade Marshal, Mick Strevens, ensured all the uniformed groups were ready for the procession down to the war memorial. The Brent sixth Scout group had an amazing 97 of their members attend the parade.

We were also honoured to have the Bishop of Rochester at the service, who brought it to a poignant close with a special prayer and some heartfelt words for the Stone Parish community.

The community spirit of Stone Parish was evident and we should be proud that so many young and old came to pay their respects!

We would like to thank everyone that helped with this event and all those who attended.

We will remember them…
