Split scout group gathered for remembrance at the memorial and a crowd at the Christmas lights switch on with a cancelled banner across both.

Stone Parish Council has taken the difficult decision to cancel the usual Remembrance service and parade and the annual Christmas lights switch on for 2020.

Considering the most recent Government guidance around Covid-19, the council felt it was not feasible to host these events due to the large number of residents they attract.

Stone Parish Council Chairman, Keith Kelly said: “The entire council is disappointed that these popular yearly events are to be cancelled, but our priority is the welfare of the community. We all hope that things can return to normal for next year.”

Further details of these online events will be announced via the Council’s website and social media channels.
