This role will provide customer service at Lizzie’s Café at Stone Recreation Ground as well as secondary support for services at Stone Pavilion and The Claire Tiltman Centre.  

The post is a Maternity Cover contract for 26hrs per week until 31st August 2023, with possibility of extension.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly over a four-week rolling rota to ensure sufficient cover for council operations, including providing cover for holidays and absence.

Core responsibilities will include: 

  • Preparation of refreshments for sale and to cater for bookings 
  • Daily set-up and cleaning to ensure attractive presentation of facilities and display of stock items  
  • Processing transactions and cashing-up procedures 
  • Providing support services for bookings and events at council venues including acting as first point of contact for hirers/prospective hirers

Hours & Salary  

Hours:  26 hours per week including evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
Salary: Paid in line with the Real Living Wage, currently £10.90 per hour including local allowance. Enhanced pay for unsociable hours.

 Next Steps   

The first stage of the recruitment process requires completion of an application form to assess skills and suitability.  

Responses to these initial questions are reviewed to enable comparison of candidates, against pre-determined scoring criteria to accurately record results. This is repeated for all questions to enable an overall score for each candidate to inform the shortlisting outcome.  

Following shortlisting, we may use individual and group assessments (as necessary) to observe how candidates respond to tasks and structured final interviews to confirm alignment with the council’s mission and values.
