4 – Approval of Minutes

The Minutes for the Meeting of the People & Performance Committee held on Wednesday 12 July 2023 were approved.

5 – To resolve to exclude press and public

No members of press or public were present.

6 – Performance Reviews

Members were informed that performance reviews had been undertaken across the workforce in October 2023. Review meetings had been held for office staff and the Grounds Manager and further meetings were planned for the next few weeks for all remaining staff.

Members were presented with a report that set out the main findings and cumulative scores from the review process.

Members resolved to note the report on Performance reviews.

7 – To note current People & Performance Activity Report

Members were presented with a report on work activity, workforce status, recruitment needs, overtime and absence and attendance information.

Members resolved to note the People and Performance activity report.

8 – Review of Workforce Structure

Members were presented with a report outlining the primary objectives and process undertaken to support a comprehensive review of the workforce structure, as well as a proposed draft workforce structure chart and salary banding. The chart was designed to show a structure that included future growth, both to provide members with an indication regarding where this was likely to be seen through expansion of activities or services, but also to enable appropriate development path opportunities for staff to work towards. Members were reminded of the need to consider succession planning as part of its strategic management, as well as ensuring an appropriate arrangement of duties and reporting arrangements to ensure the workforce can be effectively managed. Work was currently being undertaken to assess the approach to overall estate maintenance to ensure resources can be maximized and work scheduling undertaken in a productive manner.

Members resolved to note the proposals regarding a revised workforce structure and looked forward to further progress regarding this.
