June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, traditionally a time to come together in celebration and recognition of the diversity of our local communities, empowering individuals to feel free to express who they are, without fear or prejudice, at all times.

Pride Month began as a movement, following the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York and commemorates years of struggle for civil rights and the pursuit of equal justice for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Covid-19 has meant many of the planned celebrations and marches for this year cannot go ahead, but Stone Parish Council is still proud to recognize the achievements of all LGBTQ+ people by flying the Pride flag throughout June at Stone Pavilion and we encourage everyone to play their part in contributing to our diverse and inclusive society.

Stay safe and Happy Pride Month to all!
