Salary: NJC SP 29-32 £35.411-£38,296 (Pay award pending and pro rata for part time hours) plus local allowance of £988 per annum.
Hours: 30-37 hours (negotiable)

Your mission: to oversee community engagement strategies, manage communication channels, and lead vibrant marketing campaigns that not only promote council initiatives but also elevate the visibility of our services. From organizing exciting public events to ensuring the seamless delivery of essential council services, your work will resonate with the diverse needs, values, and expectations of our community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Curate a diverse annual calendar of community events aligned with strategic objectives.

– Oversee the seamless execution of events, ensuring all necessary documentation is in place.

– Conduct research, draft proposals, and collaborate on projects supporting the Community Engagement, Wellbeing & Events Committee.

– Create engaging content using graphic design software to communicate and promote council activities effectively.

– Share regular updates through the council’s e-newsletter, website, social media, and local media.

– Foster community engagement through various methods, aligning proposals with strategic objectives.

– Cultivate internal communications to keep our team informed and engaged.

– Build a robust network of collaborators to enhance partnership working and cross-promotion of services.

– Develop annual budget proposals for committee consideration.

– Procure supplies and services for community engagement, marketing, and events activities.

– Monitor and optimize budget expenditure for maximum impact.

– Prepare funding applications to secure sponsorship and external grants.

– Oversee the delivery of community engagement and events, coordinating resources and ensuring compliance.

– Conduct monitoring and evaluation to ensure strategic objectives are met.

Staff Management Responsibilities:

– Directly manage the Hospitality Manager and Hospitality Administrator.

– Provide leadership and direction to the Hospitality Team for cohesive and efficient operations.

Technical:

– Maintain the council website, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards.

– Manage website privileges and ensure regular content updates in line with local council award criteria and role objectives.

– Oversee the community app’s provision to enhance accessibility and engagement.

Person Specification:

Education and Qualifications:

– Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

– Proven experience in community engagement, communications, and marketing roles.

– Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective community engagement strategies.

– Experience overseeing communication channels, including traditional and digital media.

– Experience of managing events from conception to execution.

– Track record of executing successful marketing campaigns.

– Previous experience in team management and leadership roles.

– Familiarity with local government operations is advantageous.
