27/01/20RF: TO RECEIVE A SUMMARY OF COUNCIL EVENTS

  1. REMEMBRANCE SERVICE

Members received an update on the Remembrance service and commented that the event had been very successful. It was suggested that someone from the scouting community take on the role of Parade Marshall next year.

  1. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

Members agreed the event went very well and were happy that the market stalls were so busy and the grotto was very much enjoyed by the children. They agreed the stage worked better than performing on the veranda. Members believed that the choir would be better performing during the lights switch on itself.

  1. SENIOR CITIZENS CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Members praised the food that was provided and had only received positive feedback from the seniors who attended. The school choir were very well received and special thanks were given to Father Christmas for attending again.

28/01/20RF: TO DISCUSS SUGGESTIONS FOR COUNCIL EVENTS

  1. TEA & CAKE ACTIVITIES

Members agreed with the proposed activities and suggested other talks that could be had. The office is to arrange these activities. Members also commented that there needed to be an advertisement for more seniors to attend as numbers had been reducing.

Members also decided they would like to rename the group so they would request suggestions for this.

  1. EASTER

Members agreed that the tried and tested approach to this event still worked very well and that it was nice to see the children out on the recreation ground searching for easter eggs.

  1. VE DAY / VJ DAY

Due to budgetary restraints, members agreed that there should not be another event added for this year, but that they would like to have a VE Day themed Seniors Tea and Cake activity.

  1. STONE FETE

Members discussed the event and how attendance has increased and how this now meant there was a need to control numbers to avoid security risks. Members discussed charging non-parish members for entry to the fete.

It was decided that this would involve closing down the site and other logistical difficulties so members decided this would not work.

Members believed that using local bands on the main stage would help reduce the impact on the budget.

Members also thought that banning people from bringing alcohol in would reduce security risks, although this would also involve closing down the site.

29/01/20RF: PLANNING

  1. To consider new planning applications and resolve observation responses to the Local Planning Authority.

19/01196/FUL | Earthworks, including the importation of additional inert fill, to create a revised restoration level/development platform for the forthcoming residential led development | Stone Pit 2 St James Lane Horns Cross Greenhithe Kent

Full details may be viewed here…

Members discussed the planning application. Members noted that they had received feedback from local residents with queries regarding this.

Members resolved to support the application as long as it did not impact the following;

  • The height of the site does not increase water run-off onto London Road
  • The developer ensures they are making all the necessary repairs, especially those that effect the security of the site.
  • Local residents are informed of any works or changes that will affect them.
