What is the purpose of this role:

The council aims to ensure a high standard of facilities and excellent customer service.

The role will provide support to the Facilities Manager to ensure effective operations at council venues, which will involve working shifts on two weekends on a four-week rota basis.

This will include unsociable hours on some Saturday nights. An increase in hourly pay is applied to these hours as compensation.

It is central to the council’s success that the Community Centre Assistant:

• develops an excellent rapport with the public and facility users
• takes charge and makes decisions that uphold council policies
• is reliable and can work at weekends, as well as be flexible over weekday working hours if required
• gains the knowledge needed to follow the relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and rules that apply to the job
• can work at pace to deliver a high standard of cleanliness

Key outcomes will include:

• receiving positive feedback from hirers regarding the customer service experience and the high standard of the facilities
• experiencing the smooth-running of council facilities while on duty with no problems or complaints
• achieving a high level of communication and effective team working to support the council’s high-performance standards

We will look to you to provide a high level of support to the council including:

• ensuring that staff and guests receive an efficient, friendly, and consistent service and all facilities are at the highest levels of cleanliness and presentation
• facilitating arrangements for bookings and events including layout and cleaning as necessary
• providing information to hirers
• taking ownership and ensuring the security of the facility while on duty
• being informed regarding hirers needs to ensure these are met accordingly
• notifying the Facilities Manager when stock or materials are running low so they can be re-ordered
• ensuring any equipment faults, failure or maintenance issues are identified and reported to the Facilities Manager as soon as discovered
• sharing information and collaborating effectively with team members to establish and support a positive working relationship and team environment
• upholding council policies, particularly regarding health and safety

You will be responsible for …

• ensuring all hirers are effectively welcomed and provided with relevant booking and health and safety information
• preparation and service of refreshments for conferences and weddings
• ensuring the cleanliness of facilities before, between and following bookings
• ensuring hirers respect the facility, leave on time, and have regard for neighbouring residents
• making records of any accidents or incidents while on duty
• ensuring the cleanliness of the perimeter of the building, courtyards, and gardens
• emptying rubbish and recycling from bins and transferring to main point
• mopping floors and hoovering carpets to ensure floors are clean and free of debris
• refilling toilet paper and paper towel dispensers in all cubicles and bathrooms
• undertaking training relevant to your role
• attending and actively participating in team meetings

Hours & Salary

Hours: 14 per week minimum, plus additional hours in line with business needs
Salary: £10.90ph including local allowance
